(Michael Blake, tenor saxophone; LanDon Knoblock, piano; Michael Bates, bass; Greg Ritchie, drums) comes to Cornelia Street Cafe

Michael Blake has been performing his music Internationally for over two decades and is a major creative force in contemporary jazz music. His distinctive saxophone playing has been documented with The Lounge Lizards, Steven Bernstein and Ben Allison. A consistently fearless and lyrical improviser, Blake's original voice has earned him praise in Downbeat, The NY Times, Time Out NY and the Village Voice. A critically acclaimed composer with over 10 CD's under his own name, Blake isn't one to repeat him self and this new quartet continues a tradition of excellent ensembles. Fellow Canadians Michael Bates and Greg Ritchie and Floridian LanDon Knoblock are rising stars themselves and bring a new light and excitement to Blake's infectious arrangements.
