LA Based Duo More Giraffes Release Debut EP Today

Today, LA-based electronic pop duo More Giraffes releases their debutIt Was A Joke EP HERE. The 5 song EP includes the singles "AOP", "Not Cool" (music video directed by Colin West), "Basement" and "Dinosaur", which have received critical praise. The cover art is designed by Paul Fuentes.

More Giraffes explain the EP tracks: "We started More Giraffes with the intention of having fun and making bright music that colors outside the lines of traditional pop. It Was a Joke is our debut EP, which we wrote and produced ourselves in northeast Los Angeles. The title comes from a lyric in our song "Basement", serving as a reminder to not take life too seriously and spread good vibes with our music."

More Giraffes talked to Billboard about "Not Cool" video: "The message is that it's ok to be not cool, and we've all been there at some point or another. The video was inspired by the lyrics of the song, basically following someone who is going through a tough breakup. Dinosaurs are a theme for us, the mark of an antihero, and so we used dinosaur onesies as a metaphor for being down in the dumps and wearing your depression on your sleeve in this video. The main character thinks she's alone but actually we're all dinosaurs."

NYLON praised "More Giraffes may be new to the scene, but they've got the sound of seasoned all-stars." and Vanyaland called "Not Cool", "sweet futuristic carefree pop music" with "layers of crystalized pep."

More Giraffes was born when musicians Mark Hadley and Keeley Bumfordcollided over a shared passion for new wave futuristic pop music ideal for the modern attention span. Together, they create songs laced with wit, fresh beats, and undeniable melodies.
