Idan Raichel Project and More Set for Israel Independence Day BKLYN Celebration, 5/1-6

By:

Join us for a weeklong festivities in celebration of Israel's independence day, including a debut performance of the world renowned Idan Raichel Project.

More than a dozen well-known Brooklyn Jewish organizations will come together this May to host an ambitious weeklong celebration of films, comedy, lectures, block parties and many more cultural events honoring Israel's 66th year of independence.

Israel Independence Day BKLYN is scheduled for May 1 - 6 and is the first event of its kind to be organized in Brooklyn for Yom Ha'Atzmaut. Events will take place at various locations throughout the borough; a complete list can be found at www.IsraelBklyn.org.

Among the myriad of offerings are: a lecture by Israel Flying Aid founder Gal Lusky, "The Schizophrenic Zionist" a one-man interactive theater piece and many more. More 'Celebrate Israel' events will be hosted by the Kings Bay Y at Windsor Terrace, Kings Bay Y at North Williamsburg, Park Slope Jewish Center, Hannah Senesh Day School. All these events are free.

Highlighting the celebration will be a much-anticipated concert by the Idan Raichel Project on Tuesday, May 6 at Congregation Beth Elohim (274 Garfield Place) - their first performance in Brooklyn. With his ambitious cross-cultural collaborations, Raichel has changed the face of Israeli popular music and was recently voted Israeli Musician of the Decade. Raichel blends traditional Middle Eastern and electronic instruments, combining Jewish music with Latin American and West African sounds into a mesmerizing experience. A VIP reception will follow the performance and include an exclusive Meet & Greet with the project members. Tickets are available online at https://idanraichel.splashthat.com/#.
