Horse Meat Disco to Headline Brixton Disco Festival

After the success of Brixton Disco Festival 2018, London's premier disco event is back celebrating over 40 years of the genre. What better way to mark the occasion than with a headline slot from the capital's best-loved party veterans, Horse Meat Disco, and a performance of the most iconic disco tracks by Some Voice Choir.

Brixton Disco Festival takes place on Saturday 27th April 2019. Tickets available from brixtondiscofestival.com

Horse Meat Disco began back in 2003, when James Hillard and Jim Stanton set about creating an alternative event inspired by the halcyon parties of 70s New York. With the help of DJs Severino and Filthy Luka, that inspiration led them to a Sunday night residency at the rowdy South London pub, Eagle London, where their hedonistic, rhythmic sets of disco classics, Italo disco, house, oddities, and punk funk are still running 16 years later.

London's coolest contemporary choir, Some Voices unite for an immersive disco experience at Brixton Disco Festival 2019, celebrating over 40 years of Studio 54. Having first performed the show at The Printworks in 2017, Some Voices will perform a number of the most iconic tracks from the golden era of disco.

They'll both be bringing the energy to Electric Brixton on Saturday 27th April as part of Brixton Disco Festival 2019, joining an already stellar lineup that includes Evelyn 'Champagne' King, Greg Wilson, Francois K & Cosmo, Low Life with Bill Brewster, Frank Broughton, and the Brixton Disco Festival Orchestra.

2018's inaugural Brixton Disco Festival saw acts including Joey Negro, Jocelyn Brown, Nicky Siano, Crazy P Soundsystem, and Low Life take over multiple venues in Brixton to celebrate 40 years of the genre. This year, it's back and bigger than ever in the five venues surrounding Brixton's iconic Windrush Square - Electric Brixton, Prince of Wales Rooftop & Club, The Ritzy & The Black Cultural Archives.

As well as live music and DJ sets from Horse Meat Disco, Evelyn 'Champagne' King, Greg Wilson, Francois K & Cosmo and more, Brixton Disco Festival 2019 will see film screenings, talks, a record fairand a Roller Disco in the Windrush Square.
