NYC's Holy Ghost! Speak with NPR and share new EP track "Compass Point" today with NPR's Songs We Love in anticipation of their Crime Cutz EP out this Friday April 29th via DFA Records in the US and Pias abroad. The track recalls the band's trademark shimmering bursts of disco, synth-pop, and lingering grooves.
Holy Ghost!'s Crime Cutz EP is the first new original music since the duo Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel released their sophomore album 2013's Dynamics. Speaking to NPR about their creative process, Frankel says "We find a sound we like, try to make it and fail, but in the process we make something new. It's incredibly exciting. For sample-based artists in dance music and hip-hop, there's nothing cooler than finding something you've never heard before." Listen to "Compass Point" HERE Since revealing the title-track earlier this year "Crime Cutz" has met with wide critical praise. Hailed as "a seven-minute space-funk jam" by Consequence of Sound, "one of their best singles in some time" by BrooklynVegan, and "hypnotic" by SPIN, the track is brought to life through this captivating DIY music video (praised by Pitchfork as "luminous"). Be sure to catch Holy Ghost! live this summer in Chicago and NYC + stay tuned for additional dates to be announced soon!Videos
