Gem and Jam Festival in Tucson to Kick Off 2/7

February 7th marks the kickoff of the 8th annual Gem and Jam Festival in Tucson, AZ. The only festival of its kind, the three-day event is set to take place during the pinnacle weekend of the 60thannual Tucson Gem and Mineral show.

The event features artists of all types and mediums, and while music is for many the main attraction, there are many elements to Gem & Jam. Prominently featured is live painting and workshops with the world-renowned visionary artists Alex Grey and Allyson Grey.

Musically the event has an array of styles represented, headed up by the likes of Mimosa, Purity Ring (DJ set), Boombox, The Motet, Random Rab, Thriftworks, Bluetech, Eliot Lipp, Govinda, and more.

Loaded to the brim by eager community members, the celebration will feature fire dancers, visual performers, arts and crafts, high end art galleries - and of course the Gem Show.

The Gem and Jam Festival occurs on the 2nd weekend of the Gem & Mineral Show, Feb 7-8-9. Now located on an expanded outdoor oasis, the music festival features 2 full stages, with plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy the beautiful desert landscape.

As the event grows each year, organizers have found new and creative ways to co-create the event with the community. Event organizers are offering an expanded network of daytime activities, classes and workshops, along with late night after parties with music till dawn. Inclusive hotel and ticket packages are also sold at a discount.

Over the last eight years, the festival has hosted such luminary talent as STS9, Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob, and many more. In 2014, Gem and Jam is setting the bar high with an incredible lineup of talent from the around the country and it's all going down in the balmy desert in Tucson.
