Experience Captivating Vocalist Madeleine Peyroux At QPAC Jazz lovers will be excited to hear that acclaimed American based vocalist Madeleine Peyroux will grace Queensland Performing Arts Centre's (QPAC's) Concert Hall stage on Thursday 7 June 2018.

Peyroux's extraordinary journey is one of music industry's most compelling. Eight albums and 22 years since her debut Dreamland, Peyroux continues to challenge the confines of jazz, venturing into the fertile fields of contemporary music with unfading curiosity.

Renowned for her seductively expressive 'smoke and whisky' vocals and hailed as the legitimate successor to blues icon Billie Holiday, French-American jazz singer Peyroux delivers highly personal interpretations of jazz standards, blues and original works infused with a captivating mélange of folk, country and gospel.

While her intimate sound certainly owes a debt to Holiday, Peyroux has carved out her own distinctive stylistic niche, balancing a modern pop sensibility with a respect for older vocal traditions.

Coined "the queen of the unhurried" at the 2016 London Jazz Festival, Peyroux is an unparalleled songstress and a strong believer in the power of song quoted as having said "music, song, the voice: this is my spiritual life"

Madeleine will be performing from her soon to be released album Anthem produced by Larry Klein. This album achieves the difficult task of balancing humour, pathos, and irony, while weaving a topical thread throughout, addressing the current state of the world. It craftily speaks of the challenges that our times present for someone trying to hold on to their hope, heart and optimism in the new world that we now confront.

Don't miss this very special evening with Madeleine Peyroux, revered for her dusky, lyrical style, as she covers jazz and blues standards, along with her own original works. To book go to qpac.com.au or phone 136-246.

It's rare to find someone capable of injecting such life into every single lyric and each emotion and sentiment was conveyed with such personality and conviction through her musical choices, inflection and perhaps simply natural ability to really tell a story through song.
