Erin Durant Premieres Video for 'Old Soul'

Brooklyn-via-New Orleans songwriter Erin Durant has premiered a video for the song "Old Soul" today via BrooklynVegan - share via YouTube - to celebrate two Brooklyn performances, tonight at Sunnyvale (8pm) and August 27 at Union Pool (day show). "Old Soul" is featured on Durant's 2016 debut full-length,Blueberry Mountain. The video, directed by Heidi Ferrell and Aaron Cassara, was filmed at Breezy Pines Farm in Connecticut, featuring the horse Captain and Durant, with additional filming in Brooklyn.

Durant grew up playing piano as a child, but did not revisit the instrument until she moved to New York, taking lessons Patrick McKearn, learning folk song arrangements and blues piano style, working by day, and studying music theory at Julliard by night. Durant released her debut EP, Gathering, in 2011, joined the Colin L. Orchestra in 2012, and followed with the Take Your Money and Run EP in 2014, recorded at Andrija Tokic's Nashville studio.

By 2015 Durant was performing around New York regularly, catching the attention of The New York Times for lugging her 232lb. 3/4 sized upright piano with her, from home to club, and back again. She has toured with Kyp Malone of TV on the Radio, playing numerous one-offs with such artists as Kath Bloom, Johnny Fritz, Larkin Grimm, Ed Askew, Devon Sproule and Purse Horsehair, amongst others.

Durant released a single, "Kind Woman", on March 8 to celebrate International Women's Day, as part of Instant Records' bi-weekly INSTANT LOVE single series, and is currently writing and working on new material for a follow up record in 2018.
