Following on the heels of his recently released new album CLAPTON, legendary English singer/songwriter/guitarist Eric Clapton announced the initial dates for his Spring 2011 tour that will encompass the West Coast of the U.S. followed by a run of shows in Ireland and the U.K.  The dates will include a stop at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday, March 5 at 8 p.m.  Special guest Los Lobos will open the evening's show.

Tickets priced at $125, $75 and $47.50, not including applicable service charges and taxes, go on sale Saturday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. and will be available at all Las Vegas Ticketmaster locations (select Smith's Food and Drug Centers and Ritmo Latino).  Ticket sales are limited to eight (8) per person.  To charge by phone with a major credit card, call Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000.  Tickets also are available for purchase at www.mgmgrand.com or www.ticketmaster.com.

Critics have been raving about the Hall of Fame musician's latest album.  CLAPTON has been described by many as a new and inspiring body of work by one of the world's most legendary guitar players.  Co-produced by guitarist and long-time collaborator Doyle Bramhall II, the album features an all-star cast of musical collaborations starting with the legendary JJ Cale, drummer Jim Keltner, bassist Willie Weeks and keyboardist Walt Richmond.  Additional guests who joined in the musical sessions include Steve Winwood, Wynton Marsalis, Sheryl Crow, Allen Toussaint and Derek Trucks.

Clapton's current album is a collection of music that touches on everything from century-old traditional brass bands and little-known country blues to new originals.  The result is both relaxed and revelatory, unlike anything the guitarist has created over the course of his legendary career.
Clapton also has assembled an impressive set of band members for the 2011 tour which will feature long-time touring partners Steve Gadd (drums), Willie Weeks (bass) and Chris Stainton (keyboards), as well as Michelle John and Sharon White as backing vocalists.
