ELECTRIC CITY NIGHTS Concert Series to Feature Randall Bramblet & Conger Purcell, 10/23

By:

The series of concerts at the Electric City Playhouse in Anderson, SC will feature regional artists/writers. The series is being produced by Paul Burdick with the help of a grant from the South Carolina Arts Council.

More than just concerts, the series will be called ELECTRIC CITY NIGHTS. These concerts will be videotaped by Dead Horse Productions, LLC, allowing for concert goers to be in the video.

Further, these events will deliver an opportunity for music lovers to taste the entire city of Anderson, SC. Special restaurant promotions, lodging and extra downtown Anderson events will be happening for all comers before and after the shows. Concert goers coming to downtown Anderson will be able to ... "make a night of it!"

The first artist to perform will be Randall Bramblett on October 23, 8pm. All Seats are $15.

Randall Bramblett has been a much sought after musician over the years. Early on with Capricorn Records, Randall joined Sea Level with Chuck Leavell. From there, Bramblett embarked on a path as a big-league, musical utility man (especially with sax and keys) and landed on the speed dial of some of the greatest names in rock history, including Steve Winwood, Levon Helm, and Bonnie Raitt. His live performances confirm what the Allman Brothers, Widespread Panic, REM and others have attested to - Bramblett is one of the finest southern players, ever. Now with 4 records on New West Records, Randall Bramblett is getting as much attention for his songwriting as his musicianship. http://www.randallbramblett.com/bio.php

Warming up Randall Bramblett, will be Conger Purcell, a multi-talented singer, songwriter, and musician.

Born in 1958 to a very musical family, Conger is the third of six children born to the late Harriet (drummer, pianist, singer) and Tracy "The Saltwater Bluesman" Purcell. A natural musician, Conger was keeping a steady drum beat before he was two years old and playing guitar by the time he was seven. His first gig was at the age of six when he played drums with his brother Paul's band, The Ravens.

Some of Conger's most memorable moments along his musical journey include meeting Estelle Axton of Stax records and late night jams at her studio, where he befriended Johnny Taylor. Later he opened up for Stax artists Rufus Thomas and Con-funk-shun. Conger has played several blues festivals, (both Randall and Conger will be at the one in Columbia, SC. Oct 22nd) including The New Orleans Jazz and Blues festival with friend and musician Lucky Peterson. Conger is also very thankful to have worked with South Carolinas own Drink small, the late Nappy Brown, and Anderson, South Carolina's own, the late Kip Anderson.

Conger currently lives in Anderson, South Carolina with his wife, nationally and internationally known blues recording artist, Wanda Johnson.
