Delaware Water Gap Celebration of the Arts to Celebrate 36th Anniversary this Weekend

One of the country's oldest continuous Jazz Festivals, the Delaware Water Gap Celebration of the Arts (COTA) celebrates its' 36th year this weekend September 6, 7 and 8, 2013.

This all-volunteer, non-sponsored jazz festival was founded by and for musicians and their neighbors in 1978 by noted musicians NEA Jazz Master Phil Woods; educator and NYC Ballet trombonist Rick Chamberlain, and esteemed Tavern Keeper - the late Ed Joubert.

The result is a festival that continues with the principles of originality, local musicianship, the community, volunteerism and non-sponsorship and features world class arts and especially - Jazz. Truly a home grown masterpiece.

Located in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania in the bucolic borough of Delaware Water Gap the festival features a craft and art tent lined entranceway leading to the great hill and stage with gastronomic delights and a kid's area just a little further on.

Friday evening begins with a music motif themed art show that showcases local artists and local restaurants and is followed by performances of theatre, dance, and music. Saturday and Sunday performances begin at noon and 12:30 respectively and include Phil Woods, Dave Liebman, Eric Mintel Quartet, Hal Galper, Clarice Assad, the Organik Vibe Trio, Funk Express, and Zen for Primates among others. A free Jazz Mass convenes Sunday morning at 10AM. The event is held rain or shine.

Saturday and Sunday tickets: a one-day ticket is $25.00, a 2-day ticket (available Saturday only) is $40.00. Students and seniors are $15.00 per day. Children between 5 and 12 years are $10.00 per day, while those under 5 are free.
