Deixem o Pimba em Paz and Diana Krall Headed to NJPAC This June

By:

New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents an evening with Deixem o Pimba em Paz with Bruno Nogueira & Manuela Azevedo.

This concert event, hosted by humorist Bruno Nogueira and featuring vocalist Manuela Azevedo (lead singer of the popular Portuguese band, Clã), will bring entirely new life to pimba, a genre of music traditionally associated with rural regions of Portugal, characterized by uptempo, dance-friendly rhythms.

Deixem o Pimba em Paz (which translates as "Leave the Pimba in Peace") was premiered in Lisbon and has since toured throughout Portugal to critical acclaim. For this highly-energized performance, the party-like qualities of traditional pimba will be transformed with new arrangements that lend the music touches of contemporary jazz, pop and more, including arrangements by accomplished jazz pianist Filipe Melo and Portuguese pop-rock sensation Nuno Rafael. The repertoire will also include songs made famous by popular pimba composer and performer Quim Barreiros. Saturday, June 3, 2017 8:00 PM at Victoria Theater.

Multiple GRAMMY Award-winning jazz pianist and world-renowned singer Diana Krall returns to NJPAC. Diana Krall brings her 2017-2018 World Tour to NJPAC in support of her highly anticipated new album, Turn Up the Quiet, which celebrates a return to jazz and the Great American Songbook and reunites her with GRAMMY-winning producer Tommy LiPuma.

The only jazz singer to have eight albums debut at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart, Krall has garnered five GRAMMY Awards, eight Juno Awards and has earned nine gold, three platinum and seven multi-platinum albums. Her unique artistry transcends any single musical style and has made her one of the most recognizable artists of our time. Friday, June 16, 2017 8:00 PM at Prudential Hall.

Tickets available at www.NJPAC.org or Box Office 888.GO.NJPAC (888.466.5722).
