DEADPOOL/MAD MAX Composer Junkie XL Moves to ASCAP

ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, the world leader in performing rights and advocacy for music creators, today announced that Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum producer and composer Tom Holkenborg, professionally known as Junkie XL, has switched to ASCAP for representation of public performances of his extensive music repertoire. Among other projects, the composer has scored box office-topping films includingDeadpool, Mad Max: Fury Road, Black Mass and Divergent.

With over 120 scoring credits for film, video game and television music, Junkie XL'sscores have underpinned a diverse range of films including Black Mass, Brimstone, The Dark Tower and Tomb Raider and appeared in video games like FIFA, Need For Speed, The Sims, and SSX. He has a close working relationship with fellow ASCAP member and film scoring legend, Hans Zimmer, with whom he has scored seven collaborations, including 2016's Batman vs Superman.

Beginning his career in 1993, Junkie XL became a producer, composer and master of classical forms and structures with one finger planted firmly on the pulse of popular music, achieving a #1 hit in 24 countries in 2002 with his rework of Elvis Presley's "A Little Less Conversation." Renowned for his mastery of studio technology and instrumentation, he went on to collaborate with and remix Coldplay,Dave Gahan, Depeche Mode, Robert Smith and Justin Timberlake.

As part of ASCAP's upcoming 30th annual Film Scoring Workshop in Los Angeles,Junkie XL will host a private studio session for a group of aspiring film composers on July 18. The composer is passionate about music education and several years ago established a music program at the renowned ArtEZ Conservatorium in his hometown of Enschede, Netherlands, that has graduated over 200+ music composition students to date. He was also a featured speaker on the "We Create Music" panel at the 2018 ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO earlier this year.
