Lincoln Center's American Songbook Series Week 4 Lineup Announced

Now in its 15th season, Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook celebrates the best in American singing and songwriting with a fourth week running from February 27 through March 2, 2013.

February 27thbelongs to one of the most gifted interpreters of country music, Kathy Mattea. Mattea is a multiple Grammy Award-winner, whose social activism is almost as well known as her stirring voice.

Next, on February 28th, is Lost in the Trees, the North Carolina-based group whose "chamber folk" music is quietly capturing audiences and music critics across the country, including the recent "best of the year" album accolade from the Wall Street Journal.

In keeping with American Songbook's tradition of honoring great composers and lyricists, those being celebrated this season include Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, the creators of the ground-breaking musical, Next to Normal, on March 1st. Kitt and Yorkey will be joined by the stars of Next to Normal - Alice Ripley and Brian d'Arcy James, as well as Broadway powerhouse Idina Menzel.

Rounding out the week, on March 2nd, is singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson. Michaelson's beautifully crafted love songs are favorites of television music directors, indie club goers, and web browsers around the globe. She recently led a group of school students from the tragedy-stricken Sandy Hook school in an online version of "Over the Rainbow" that captured America's hearts.

These shows will be presented in The Allen Room in Frederick P. Rose Hall in Jazz at Lincoln Center. With its stunning vistas of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline it is one of the most dazzling venues in the world.
