BWW Preview: TIKKA ROLL HOUSE in Astoria Now Open

Tikka Roll House is the new fast-casual Indian eatery on the main strip in Astoria, a vibrant urban area filled with young professionals, hipsters and families. The menu at this promising neighborhood eatery features traditional and contemporary Indian cuisine and highlights many perennial favorites from the diverse cultural regions of India. Considered a walker¹s paradise, the neighborhood has much to offer and the new restaurant is near many parks including Athens Square, Columbus Triangle and Van Alst Playground.

The menu at Tikka Roll House features a wide variety of aromatic, flavorful Indian cuisine that blends traditional Calcutta cooking and spices with a contemporary flair. Signature specials include a variety of kati rolls, street-food dish of a skewer-roasted kebab wrapped in a paratha bread and large curry bowls, overflowing with a choice of meat, poultry, fish or vegetables, white rice, and salad. Signature dishes include the Nizami Roll, a classic Kolkate street roll, the Bhuna Gobi Roll, and Malai Murag Roll, the Vegan Rajma Curry Bowl, featuring spiced kidney beans in the chef¹s own spices, the Kadai Chicken, tossed with bell pepper and onion in special spices, the Jhinga Bhuna Mirchwala, with spiced shrimp and green chilies, and of the Goat Briyani in traditional spices, slow cooked to perfection.

Executive Chef Muhammad Kabir Mia was born and raised in Bangladesh where he learned the hidden secrets of spices in Indian cuisine. His journey as a chef began at Biman Bangladesh Airlines, where he served an international clientele including the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Chef Kabir Mia moved to the United States in 2008 and worked in many popular Indian restaurants, including Beluchi and Tandoori in New York. In 2016, he will take on the role of Head Chef at the newly opened Tikka Roll House.

Tikka Roll House offers a comfortable, modern and welcoming ambiance that fits well in the flourishing neighborhood. The décor mixes modern and industrial chic, with iconic Bollywood movie posters on blue grey walls, creates a comfortable and inviting setting. Guests may sit at hardwood tables with leather upholstered chairs in the front or enjoy more intimate high top bar seating for two offers in the back and a long raised wood bar along the side offers casual seating for all.
