Going to London's National Theatre, New York's Metropolitan Opera or Moscow's Bolshoi Ballet to see world-class productions is as easy as going to The Ridgefield Playhouse! Incomparable performances captured live on stage are coming to the Playhouse on the big screen in HD! On Saturday, April 4, at 4 p.m., The Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow will present Romeo and Juliet. From London's National Theatre on Saturday, April 11, at 12 noon, comes family entertainment -- Treasure Island, which is suitable for 10+ years. Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana/Leoncavallo's Pagliacci is a double bill starring Marcelo Álvarez from the Met on Saturday, April 25, at 12:30 p.m. Scroll down for a sneak peek at the productions!

William Shakespeare's timeless story, written in 1595, is brought to the stage through breathtaking choreography and Sergei Prokofiev''s much-loved score. With its famous melodies, rhythmic variety and universal theme, Romeo and Juliet is one of the world''s most popular ballets. Stellar performances by Alexander Volchkov and Anna Nikulina illuminate this masterpiece, making the immortal tale of the lovers of Verona an unforgettable experience; Running time is 2 hrs. 15 min.

Robert Louis Stevenson''s story of murder, money and mutiny is brought to life in a thrilling new stage adaptation of Treasure Island by Bryony Lavery broadcast live from the National Theatre in London.

Opera's most enduring tragic double bill returns in an evocative new production at the Met from Sir David McVicar, who sets the action across two time periods but in the same Sicilian village. Marcelo Álvarez rises to the challenge of playing the dual tenor roles of Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana and Canio in Pagliacci. Rae Smith (War Horse) has designed the moodily atmospheric 1900 village square setting of Cavalleria, which transforms to a 1948 truck stop for the doomed vaudeville troupe of Pagliacci. Eva-Maria Westbroek (Cav) and Patricia Racette (Pag) sing the unlucky heroines, and Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi is on the podium.

For tickets ($25 adults, $20 members & seniors, $15 students by calling the box office; Free for high school students), call the box office at (203) 438-5795, or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
