Van Wezel Sets World Class 2015-16 Orchestra Series Lineup

The 2015-2016 Orchestra Series brings a spectacular lineup to the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall featuring some of the most sought after performers and world-class orchestras. January 30, 2016 sees the return of Grammy Award-winning violin virtuoso, Joshua Bell. The classical music superstar is the Music Director of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, while also performing as a guest soloist, recording artist, and chamber musician all over the world.

On February 26, The Philadelphia Orchestra returns under the leadership of Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Principal Guest Conductor, Stéphane Denéve, and Violinist, James Ehnes. One of the greatest American Orchestras, The Philadelphia Orchestra is exemplary in its ability to evoke the strongest of emotion through its deeply moving performances which have been exciting audiences since 1900.

The Jerusalem Symphony will perform on March 1 with acclaimed Cellist/Conductor Dmitry Yablonsky. Performing a diverse repertoire which ranges from the Baroque and the Classical Periods, through the Romantic period and even extending to contemporary composers, the Jerusalem Symphony has partnered with many of the world's greatest musicians and continues that tradition with Dmitry Yablonsky.

Disney's Fantasia Live in Concert presents the music and imagery from the legendary animated films, Fantasia and Fantasia 2000. Recreated by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and Conducted by Ted Sperling on March 9, the breathtaking score takes on an astounding new power as it is performed live in unison with the classic films displayed on the backdrop.

Sarasota favorite, Salute to Vienna, as a special attraction to the season, returns with their New Year's Concert on January 3. Presenting wonderful European singers, and dancers along with a full orchestra, the magnificent concert features uplifting melodies from world famous operettas and traditional Strauss waltzes. Reel in the New Year and party like it's 1899 with Salute to Vienna.
