The Berman Center For The Performing Arts Presents The JCC Ethan & Gretchen Davidson Music Festival

The Berman Center for the Performing Arts is pleased to announce The JCC Ethan & Gretchen Davidson Music Festival May 24-27, 2018. With a focus on indie, folk, and rock music - the music festival is being reimagined right here in metro Detroit. Music and culture lovers will enjoy the second-annual festival at The Berman featuring musicians and composers with Jewish roots. The festival will unite some of the country's most creative performers and their fans for a true celebration of song.

"We're excited to bring Marc Cohn - who rarely performs live - a new project from the founder of Rusted Root and the utterly incredible talent of PROJECT Trio to Detroit," says Elaine (Hendriks) Smith, Senior Director of The Berman. "We're honored Ethan and Gretchen Davidson are sharing their passion for music and their love for creativity and expression with the community by embracing this event," she explains.

The JCC Ethan & Gretchen Davidson Music Festival has a focus on musicians, composers or music with Jewish roots, the second-annual festival features three concerts.

First, PROJECT Trio performs at 7:30 p.m. May 24 at the intimate Go Comedy! Improv Theater in Ferndale. Combining the virtuosity of world-class artists with the energy of rock stars, PROJECT Trio is breaking down traditional ideas of chamber music. Bursting onto the scene with their landmark videos, right out of the internet generation, PROJECT Trio is a musical experience not to be missed.

Marc Cohn performs next at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 26 at The Berman. The GRAMMY®-award winning singer/songwriter recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of his landmark, self-titled release, featuring his signature hit song, Walking in Memphis.

Finally, Uprooted featuring Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root plays at 7 p.m.Sunday, May 27. Glabicki had a vision which became the multi-platinum band Rusted Root, and Glabiki became one of the world's most unique voices.

After Cohn's show May 26 will be a Patron Night Reception at 9:30 p.m. Patrons receive complimentary tickets to Marc Cohn and Uprooted, plus and exclusive event, including a strolling dinner, drinks and more surprises on Saturday.

All guests can enjoy the Market Place at The Berman, which opens before the concerts at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 26 and at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 27 and features local artists, pop up shops and food vendors. Guests can partake in food and beverages from The Nosh Pit a local favorite food truck stationed at the event. Also on hand will be artist Andy Malone featuring popular interactive art games. Algae Skateboards and Rebel Soul Apparel will showcase and sell their wares, along with many more rock 'n' roll inspired vendors.

The JCC Ethan & Gretchen Davidson Musical Festival is part of The Berman's seventh-annual entertainment season that has included the stars of Broadway, dance performances, films, musical performances, magic, live shows, and programming for kids.
