The Barns at Wolf Trap welcomes the rapidly ascending Daedalus Quartet, praised by The New Yorker as "a fresh and vital young participant in what is a golden age of American string quartets." Presented as the first Discovery Series offering of the New Year, this performance will feature the world premiere of Lawrence Dillon's String Quartet No. 4.

Daedalus Quartet has appeared in such famed locations as Musikverein in Vienna, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Cité de la Musique in Paris, Carnegie Hall, and the Lincoln Center, all since its inception in 2005. Their debut recording was released in 2006, offering performances of Ravel, Sibelius, and Stravinsky. A recording of Haydn's celebrated "Sun" Quartets, Op. 20, is scheduled for release this year.

Aside from consistent touring, Daedalus Quartet has forged associations with some of America's leading classical music and educational institutions, serving as Columbia University's Quartet-in-Residence since 2005 and Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Pennsylvania since 2006.
