Tripwire Hosts Book Signing at Black Hat USA 2014, 8/2

Tripwire, Inc., a leading global provider of risk-based security and compliance management solutions, today announced that Slava Gomzin, security and payments technologist for HP, will be signing copies of his book, "Hacking Point of Sale," at Black Hat USA 2014, booth 141. The security conference will take place August 2-7, 2014, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Target, Michaels Stores and Neiman Marcus have all been victims of massive data breaches that compromised sensitive data from over 100 million customers. In all three of these recent high-profile cases, attackers were able to hack into point-of-sale (POS) systems to gather credit card information while remaining undetected. Other retailers, such as Goodwill Industries International, have likely been compromised as well; they just haven't discovered it yet.

Many retailers do not ensure that sensitive card data is adequately protected. "Hacking Point of Sale" tackles this problem by exploring all angles including: the anatomy of retail cyberattacks, the structure of magnetic strip data and point-to-point encryption. The book focuses on practical recommendations that go beyond standard PCI compliance guides and offers pragmatic advice on how to achieve better POS security.
