"The Walking Dead", "Dawn of the Dead", "Warm Bodies" and countless others are all rather well-known examples of just how popular zombies are in media right now. That said, much of the material surrounding zombies takes a similar approach: a state of chaos. Thomas P. Wise and his wife Nancy Wise both felt it was time for a change with a look at how far science has progressed toward real zombies. Their new book, "The Borealis Genome" (published by AuthorHouse) takes readers to a real "how and why " beginning of a zombie epidemic.

Taking place in the not-so-distant future, "The Borealis Genome" uses science and the creation of a virus allowing users to upload any mind into the bodies of others. Readers are taken on a thrilling and terrifying journey following Tim, an employee with the Center for Disease Control, and his fiancé, as they race to stop the virus before it spreads.

"We hope the readers are entertained by this great new zombie story and that it encourages them to take a long, hard look at the questions regarding the immortality of our minds and spirit," Wise writes. "'The Borealis Genome' is designed to take the reader deep into a moral dilemma at a very personal level as it explores the path that science has taken society."
