CLAREMONT, Calif.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Born during the Great Depression to a barber and a homemaker in Albany, N. Y., David Linden's prospects were not very bright. Yet he persevered and not long, his determination paid off. "The Amazing Balancing Man" (published by Xlibris) retraces Linden's life journey and shows readers how one man achieved the balance to follow his inner passion in order to define personal success rather than let society's measures shape his life.

He left his home to help his family and find his destiny at a tender age, but this did not hinder Linden in realizing his dreams. After seeing an acrobat perform at the circus, he taught himself the art, building up the necessary physical and mental skills. Along the way he recruited others to join him, met and became friends with other performers at Muscle Beach, and performed at circuses around the United States and Canada. In 1967, he joined the Harlem Globetrotters for a tour of the United States and South America, performing his acrobatic and plate-spinning acts during half time. In his seventies, he retired from acrobatics and re-invented himself as a stand-up comedian, which he continues as he turns eighty.

Aptly titled, "The Amazing Balancing Man" reveals not only how a man succeeded in doing his acrobatic routines. This moving and honest memoir also shows how a man was able to go after his passion and dreams while helping his family at the same time. Inspiring, Linden's story is one riddled with hope that will embolden young people and adults alike to go after their own dreams, no matter what age they are.
