Spectral Ink Productions Releases The Last Rite for Print, Kindle, and Audiobook

The Last Rite (https://tinyurl.com/y7byzl5k) by Chad Robert Morgan started as a 12 episode computer animated series. Production started, models were built, scripts were written, and the episodes recorded with a full cast. Then the funding dried up.

"This was a self-funded, independent production," says Morgan, founder of Spectral Ink Productions. "We had accomplished so much, but we had a long way still to go before we had a viable product. We had a talented cast that put in a lot of hard work, not to mention a good story, but we were hitting a wall."

The solution – take the cast recordings and craft a unique audiobook experience.

"I wanted more than to tell the story," says Morgan. "I wanted to showcase the talents of the cast. They joined this project because they believed in it, and I couldn't just let their performances sit on a hard drive on a shelf."

Once all 12 episodes were converted to a novel, the narration was recorded, and the cast performances were inter-cut into the audiobook's dialogue. The result is a unique audiobook experience.

"There's been audiobooks that are performed like old-style radio plays," says Morgan, "but this is kind of a hybrid between that and a traditional audiobook. I've seen very few audiobooks performed like ours, and even then, it was with a limited cast. Given the amount of work, I'm not surprised its not done more often, but we were working backwards so in that regards we had a unique advantage."

Now that the book is finished, Spectral Ink Productions is getting back to work on the computer animated production while also looking for new avenues to take the new horror franchise.
