Simon and Schuster Children's Books today announced a deal to publish tie-in titles for the upcoming The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie based on NYT bestselling author Cassandra Clare's novel of the same name.

There are currently 12 million copies of Cassandra Clare's hugely successful Shadowhunters novels in print, spanning The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie, based on the first book in the series, hits the big screen on 23rd August 2013.

Following the acquisition of Clare's forthcoming The Dark Artifices novels, a companion series to The Mortal Instruments due for publication in 2015, S&S today announced it will publish two tie-in novels, The Shadowhunter's Guide and the Official Illustrated Movie Companion.

The Guide features full-colour photographic portraits and profiles on the film characters, quotes from the script, and detailed information on downworlders, Shadowhunters, the Clave and more. The Companion provides a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie, from the screenwriting process to the casting decisions and the director's vision. The book features full-colour photographs from the set, designers' sketches, interviews with the cast and crew, and more.
