Scientific Discoveries Redefine Werewolves in New Contemporary Fantasy Novel by L. E. Perry "Fatal Moon" is the first book of the Moonphase series, a smart take on genetically engineered human-animal hybrids, ancient extra-terrestrials, disputed artifacts such as crystal skulls, and current science discoveries, such as CRISPR. The fast-paced story starts with Carl, who turns into a wolf every time the full moon rises. Unfortunately, it's killing him. Literally. As a sixth-year med student, Carl discovers his lycanthropy is accompanied by a steadily increasing weight loss. He hires Jordan, former classmate and personal trainer, to help arrest the weight loss while he searches for a cure, but the danger builds as the leader of werewolves hunts him down to execute him, knowing that all werewolves who don't make a successful transformation either die, or become vampires. It's a race against time, as Carl is also visited by a beautiful woman whose own motives are unclear.

Having grown up in Seattle, Washington, L. E. Perry spent weekends camping and hiking in the Cascade Mountains, where the first book takes place. With a degree in Experimental Psychology, she has a solid background in scientific exploration, always asking "How could that possibly work?" which gives the series a science-fiction foundation for the existence of werewolves, vampires, and aliens living undiscovered among us.

The first book is offered free for a limited time, to give readers a chance to familiarize themselves with the Moonphase universe. The series will continue indefinitely, with the second book release in June, 2018. There will also be spinoffs to tell the backstory of some characters, and prequels to cover the Moonphase reimagining of many legends, folktales and mythology.

Laura's previous work includes writing as Nikola Tesla for a subscription service called "Letters Across Time," which sends personal letters to the reader from characters in stories.
