SLCL Foundation Presents St. Louis Suspense Writer Michael Kahn Tonight

The St. Louis County Library Foundation is pleased to present acclaimed St. Louis suspense author Michael Kahn for a discussion and signing of his latest novel "The Flinch Factor" tonight, June 25, at 7:00 p.m. at Library Headquarters, 1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd.

The program is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase at the event from Left Bank Books.

Several years have passed since we last saw Rachel Gold, star of Michael Kahn's popular suspense series. Back then, the stunning and savvy attorney was engaged to be married. In the interim, she became a mother, and then a widow, and now she is embroiled in a lost cause, aka, the Frankenstein Case, where she represents a blue-collar neighborhood fighting a powerful developer intent on bulldozing their homes to erect a swanky gated community.

The novel opens with the death of Nick Moran, the heartthrob of every woman whose kitchen he remodeled. Nick's sister Susannah seeks out Rachel, convinced that her brother's death was not an accident. To her surprise, Rachel starts turning up facts suggesting that Nick's death may be connected to the Frankenstein lawsuit.

And then things grow darker. Witnesses die or disappear, and Rachel fears for the safety of her family. But with support from Benny Goldberg, her crude but irrepressible best friend, and Jacki Brand, her fiercely loyal law partner, Rachel presses on to the final courtroom confrontation in the Frankenstein case.

Michael Kahn is a St. Louis trial lawyer by day and an author by night. He wrote his first novel "Grave Designs," on a challenge from his wife Margi, who got tired of listening to the same answer whenever she asked him about the book he was reading. "Not bad," he would say, "but I could write a better one." Kahn is the award-winning author of seven Rachel Gold novels, an eighth stand-alone novel, "The Mourning Sexton," under the pen name Michael Baron, and several short stories.
