Author Ruth L. Ferguson invites readers young and old to enjoy her new children's book, "An Adventure with Doogleby" (published by Partridge Singapore), which follows a young boy's adventures with his extraterrestrial friend.

Doogleby, an extraterrestrial from Stardust Land, loves taking his friend, Tom, on nighttime adventures. Like many nights before, the two decide to embark on a journey through space, to Stardust Land, where they plan on eating glitter cake, playing music with the Sparklemus family and drinking sparkling lemonade. There's just one problem: Doogleby's propeller-propelled hat has malfunctioned, leaving them stranded.

Together, Doogleby and Tom must figure out how to get Doogleby's propeller working again. With morning rapidly approaching, the two must work quickly to avoid Tom's mother discovering his absence. All the while, young readers will learn about the importance of teamwork, mathematics and colors.

"I want children to feel comfortable enough with the book that they can interact with the person reading it to them," Ferguson says. "Numbers and colours are mentioned in the book and children can point them out to whoever is reading them the story."
