Panic and terror are the emotions author Richard Padgett feel most strongly when he sits down to write, thus he entitled his first book "Panic Terror" (published by Xlibris). Although apprehensive at first, Padgett was overcome by the desire to capture segments of his life and those that he loves - especially the humor of eccentric relatives and friends - and share a read full of laughter and sensitivity.

A collection of autobiographical poems and stories, the book revolves around the life of Padgett's friends, family and eccentric southern relatives. It also details his two marriages, the ups and downs of raising six children, building a house, teaching close to 40 years and the everyday bout with life and its trials.

"Life has always been complex, especially today. Raising one's own children in today's society is extremely challenging," exclaims Padgett. "If you add to that the task of building one's own home and the dynamics of teaching for 36 years with the myriad problems students have, relevance becomes obvious."

An attempt to synthesize his often humorous life experiences and the holy terror that goes along with the spooky art of writing, "Panic Terror" perfectly captures Padgett's life memories filled with laughter, love from valuable family and friends.
