Portals are places into which one passes through to come out on the other side. This photo essay presents the many unique pathways one can take to reach the beach. In "PORTALS TO THE SEA," photographer R.S. Morrison visits (with camera in hand) an area along the mid-Atlantic coast, specifically Virginia Beach and Norfolk,VA, where his fascination for the sea and all it has to offer began.

As a child, Morrison spent many summers on the beach where each day, he would walk through one of these portals and experience all that there is on the other side. In this book, he captures all the adventure, romance, and creativity and shares with readers a stunning collection of his beautiful photographs of these pathways to the sea leading to the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay.

In collaboration with his good friend, Jack Fleck, whom the photographer shares mutual attraction to the sea and its beaches, the book features Fleck as he waxes his poetic captions on each photograph and becomes the voice of the sea and beckons readers to walk through these portals and experience all the wonders of nature by the sea in all its splendor.

From page to page, "PORTALS TO THE SEA" offers a refreshing vivid imagery and captivating description of the pathway to the sea and experiences its natural beauty. This photo essay is definitely a must have for nature photographers and those who genuinely appreciates the sea's relaxing, calming and pristine personality.
