Nature's lullabyes are translated into a wondrous picture book for the enjoyment of children everywhere. That is what author Andreen S. Henry achieves in Nature At Its Best. This worthy addition to children's bookshelves is done in easy to remember rhyme schemes and helps toddlers, tykes and pre-teens appreciate and understand nature just as they are beginning to realize its importance.

Though Andreen Henry's tale is short, it sweeps through the many images of nature in spring. The illustrations are a great aid for children to visualize what Henry praises-namely, the sights, sounds and tastes of nature in full bloom. Children, through this combination of words and pictures will see the essential fecundity or fertility of nature. Growth can be seen in how the book's fauna appreciate the fruits and flowers of the forest.

With Henry's book, children will be able to appreciate how growth is natural to everything and everyone. They themselves know how they are still in the process of fast growth-they can very well empathize with the rise and fall of life through nature's cycles. Andreen Henry in Nature At Its Best assures them that now is the right time to grow, to let life shine through as naturally as they can, following the rest of God's creation.

About the Author

Andreen Henry migrated to the United States from the Caribbean Island of Jamaica at the age of fifteen (15). She was very excited to come to the land of opportunity because she had high hopes of pursuing her ambitions and becoming very productive in society. Her goal was to be a medical surgeon or a journalist. This was not unrealistic for the author since she was an exceptionally brilliant student on the Honor Roll and a member of the Arista at the New York school she was attending. However, her dreams were shattered when sickness struck, and she became mentally and physically incapable to pursue her dreams. In spite of this setback, this did not stop her from becoming productive, spending her spare time in writing poems. The book, Nature At Its Best evolved from one of her poems. She is now battling cancer but is very optimistic about the future. Her greatest wish is that her book will be published and will get into the hands of many young readers, who, she hopes, will enjoy reading it, just as much as she enjoyed writing it. She also hopes that even if she succumbs to cancer, her book, Nature At Its Best, will continue to live after her.
