It has been author K. Running's experience that in the past, people did not discuss abuse. It seemed to tarnish one's reputation, it was a dirty subject too horrible to discuss. Somehow, just saying the words describing the event brought them back to life, when all she wanted to do was block them out.

Her memoir titled "Breaking the Victim Link" attempts to inspire anyone who has felt trapped by their circumstances. Her story is about recovering from painful childhood experiences, about choosing to live the best life, letting go of the past and the steps she has taken to achieve living a safe, happy, fulfilling, and purposeful life.

Ending the cycle of abuse can be extremely difficult. Not only is it difficult to recover from, but it has also been known to be continued throughout generations. In this book, Martin shares her metamorphosis from being sexually abused as a child, to growing up and making some poor choices in relationships and, finally, to growing and learning her life's lessons.

"Breaking the Victim Link" is an inspiring story of a successful journey through the pain. It offers hope for a new life without pain and the concrete tools to get there. K. Running's own, personal and inimitable way of dealing with life crisis offers an excellent way for people to come to grips and positively deal with abuse.
