Named after the rice ball, he loves rice balls of all kinds. In fact, it would be safe to say that this roly-poly mouse is a bit of a rice ball addict. Mortified when he runs out of rice on a holiday when the stores are closed, he calls his friends, Bernie the Barnhouse Rat and Johnny the Yellow Tailed Cat, to see if they have any rice he could borrow, but they don't. Musubi Mouse is reluctant to say yes when Sachiko Mouse invites him to her house for dinner because he knows she doesn't eat rice. But he is in for a big surprise when he accepts her invitation.
