Mother Searches for Answers in Daughter's Fentanyl Overdose Emile Paris thought she had met the man of her dreams in Scott Thompson. They dated for two years despite the reservations from Marie Paris, Emile's mother. A mother's intuition is never wrong and when Emile was found dead in early 2005, this concerned parent knew Thompson was involved.

In the face of this heartbreaking loss and pushback from local authorities, Marie was determined to find answers surrounding her daughter's death. Marie chronicle her fight for justice in "Ultimate Cruelty: A Mother's Memoir."

"Ultimate Cruelty: A Mother's Memoir" shares the true story of Sara Doiron-who writes under the pen name "Marie Paris"-and her quest to find answers in her daughter's death. Kyla Holburn-pen name "Emile Paris"- was found deceased due to an apparent overdose of Fentanyl. The 16-year-old girl's body was discovered behind an apartment building, where she had been dumped and discarded.

The community and local authorities cast doubt on Emile's character, labeling her as an addict after years of drug activity with Thompson. Marie suspects her daughter's boyfriend is involved in her death and launches a campaign to uncover the truth.

"As a parent, the ultimate horror is losing a child," Paris said. "After my daughter's passing, I searched for answers and clues I might've missed. I didn't find out she was using drugs until after she died. I wish I had known so that I could've helped her. Ultimate Cruelty encourages parents to communicate with their kids and to never stop fighting for them. Parents need to be the biggest advocate for their children- in life and death."

"Ultimate Cruelty: A Mother's Memoir" features a call-to-action for 911 laws and sheds light on the judiciary system, dangers of drugs and the need for communication between parents and their children. For more information, please visit http://www.ulitmatecruelty.com.
