About Janet Walmsley
Janet Walmsley is a born-and-raised Manitoban who has lived in Vernon, British Columbia; Yellowknife, Northwest Territories; and Germany; she now lives in Vancouver, B.C. Along with being a mother, Janet has an active career in acting and singing; her theatre career spans well over a decade, while her comedic work in film, TV, and commercials has produced such nominations as the Annual Indie Awards in Los Angeles and the Leo Awards in Vancouver.

Janet is a mother of two: her son Christopher lives in Australia with his wife Ally; and her daughter Jenny lives in Vancouver with Janet and her husband Travis.

When her daughter Jenny was first diagnosed with autism, Janet went on a mission to support Jenny and autism awareness. Janet worked tirelessly alongside health professionals to provide every opportunity and avenue for her daughter, including fulfilling Jenny's dream to be an animator. In being Jenny's rock, Janet attended autism and special needs workshops, endlessly researched medical reports and articles, and talked with medical professionals about autism. Janet attended all Jenny's appointments and ingested all that was said and done with Jenny so she could carry out the same activities at home. Travelling to talk to other families affected by autism, Janet researched and spoke to organizations to further her knowledge about caring for her daughter.
