Hoping to provide small investors with a better understanding of the equity marketplace, the advantages and resources that institutions possess and ways to neutralize and even capitalize on those dynamics, author Mark D. Mandel has penned "Small Investor Playbook: Analyze Companies Like the Pros" (published by AuthorHouse).

"Small Investor Playbook" outlines the advantages that professional investors have over small stock market investors, and how technology and regulations have sought to provide a more level playing field in this market. This leveling is shown throughout the book by Mandel as he identifies specific measures that readers can use to neutralize some of the advantages professionals have. He also gives readers a guide/playbook that helps them see the key metrics and topics for each of the Standard & Poor 500's 24 industry groups.

It is Mandel's hope that after completing his book, readers will become more familiar with the market and how it operates. "I want my readers, small investors, to understand the general environment they are operating in when they buy and sell stock," he says, "as well as how the pros analyze each industry group."
