The new poetry book, "The Nightingale Tree" (published by Balboa Press), presents a snapshot-style autobiography of author Marian through poems she started writing at age 7 and continued writing through to her present-day middle age.

"'The Nightingale Tree' is a poetic journal of my life, from simple verse written by me as a child to more complex adulthood," Marian says. "Because I wrote the first poem as a child, I wrote my age beside it - as children often do. I continued to do this throughout my life. It shows a clear progression of my journey from child to adult."

The poems in "The Nightingale Tree" are responses to experiences which Marian feels she may have in common with many people over the course of their lives. These are responses to hopes, dreams, challenges and life in general - from growing up in the 20th century to moving into the 21st century.

Marian shares a message of hope through her more than 35 years of poetry. She refuses to give up on the dream of a world of peace and compassion by sharing her voice in a complicated and cacophonous world.

"We all have a right to speak our truth lovingly and be heard," Marian says. "I passionately believe it is important for every voice and every person's life song to be heard."
