Liz Colter from New Castle, Colorado will be honored at the 30th Annual L. Ron Hubbard Achievement awards being held in April 2014 in Los Angeles. The event will celebrate the annual winners in the L. Ron Hubbard Writers and Illustrators of the Future Contests, where Liz was the 2nd quarter, second place winner for this year, making it further than some several thousand others, and where her winning story, "The Clouds in Her Eyes" will also be published in the bestselling Science Fiction anthology series - L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume xx.

Alongside Liz will be 11 other winners from all walks of life, flown in from all corners of the globe. They will be treated to a week long workshop taught by the contest blue ribbon panel of judges including Tim Powers and Dave Wolverton, followed by the gala awards ceremony.

Liz has been writing for 15 years but became serious about it, looking to professionally sell three years ago. Liz was inspired to write by contest judge, Tim Powers (On Stranger Tides, The Anubis Gates), and George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones) to name a few of her favorite authors and was so inspired by the stories that she wanted to give her own. Liz belongs to the Glenwood Springs Writing Group and is their first winner of the contest.

She is the second winner from the state of Colorado this year, the first being Amanda E. Forrest of Gunnison.

The Contests were initiated by L. Ron Hubbard in 1983 and to date the contest has launched the careers of 12 New York Times bestselling authors.
