Lisa Graves Releases Second Book - Trail Blazers: an Illustrated Guide to the Women Who Explored the World

By land, sea, and air, women have traveled the globe, blazing a trail of exploration, discovery and empowerment. This illustrated guide of explorers tells the incredible stories of the women who went against all odds to see the world and go beyond the limits set by their times.

The second title in Lisa Graves' Women in History series, "Trail Blazers" is an indisputable resource for today's children telling stories not only of well known female explorers like Amelia Earhart and Sacagawea but also of some of the lesser known influential women from the past. Learn about Nellie Bly, a groundbreaking investigative journalist who defied social norms and traveled the world in 72 days. Read about Sophie Blanchard, an aeronaut who crossed the Alps in her beautifully painted balloon.

The journey began when Lisa Graves took her love of history and art and created the successful blog, History Witch. "It's hard to believe that what started out with a map of Mary Queen of Scots life has led to so many wonderful opportunities. I feel extremely lucky to be able to share the stories of these extraordinary women," says the author.

Lisa grew up in Norfolk, MA, went to Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, MA and then on to San Diego Advertising Arts School. She has been a professional illustrator for over 15 years developing books, gift products, and creating installation art for corporate clients. Lisa is the author of the children's book History's Witches.
