Linda Maria Frank Presents Class for Mystery Fans

By:

Massapequa Park, NY

Author of teen mystery series, Annie Tillery mysteries, Linda Maria Frank, will be teaching what happens when "Nancy Drew Meets CSI". Her class, Forensics: The Science of Solving Mysteries, is available at the Precollegiate Career Discovery Institute at Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY.

Frank will be cycling her young sleuths through a series of crime scenes where they will emulate and simulate the work of detectives and forensic scientists. They will collect clues and analyze them with lab work. The conclusion will point to a suspect, and the students will create a story to go along with their findings.

For lovers of mysteries and true crime stories, this series of five full day workshops explores the techniques of scientific analysis used by law enforcement agencies to prosecute criminal cases, and also to solve ancient mysteries.

The series provides participants with hands-on activities that mirror laboratory procedures, investigative techniques, and crime scene protocols used by forensic teams around the world.

The topics included are serology, fingerprinting, forensic entomology (study of insects), DNA fingerprinting, chemical analysis of poisons, arson investigation, authentication of ancient treasures, to name a few. This program provides a full set of laboratory experiences taking the mystery out of how we know "Who Dunnit".
