Medford, Ore.

What is the price of independence? In his new book, Lew Ellen, DMD tells the story of a young woman who dared to find her place in a harsh, unrelenting world. Filled with insights and truths about life, "Jeana" is a sometimes poignant, sometimes funny and always compelling story that reveals, above all, the essence of the human spirit.

Born to what she describes as "the wrong parents," Jeana grew up without feeling the presence and concern of her mother and father. She soon learned to stand on her own. Working 12 to 14-hour shifts every day became her routine but her fortitude never wavered. Jeana knew that she was destined to become "somebody, someday." What she did not know was the price that she had to pay.

In this account readers will follow the eponymous heroine's journey through life's rough waters and the colorful and famous personalities that she met along the way, including Frank Sinatra and Tony Savalas. With honesty and grace, the author gives voice to Jeana's fears during her darkest hours but, more importantly, he shares a glimpse into the fire that kept Jeana going all throughout.

Peopled with richly drawn characters, "Jeana" will resonate with the hearts of anyone with a dream and most of all those have dared to chase that dream.
