Leland Emet Bolt Shares Story of Family History in New Book Leland Emet Bolt had been working on family genealogy for many years, but he wanted to focus on the challenges and real life history of his parents and their extended genealogical family. It prompted him to write “LELAND & FERN BOLT: Heritage, Family, Business and City Service” (published by AuthorHouse). For more details about the book, please visit https://www.amazon.com/LELAND-FERN-BOLT-Heritage-Business/dp/154621254X.

The book is about Leland, a fourth year college dropout who completed a correspondence course in accounting and his wife Fern, whom he married after her high school graduation. It is the story of their learning processes and how they had a family, built two businesses and served their community.

It includes major portions of the lives of their parents and grandparents’ families, as well as Basques from the North of Spain coming to America ahead of the Franco Revolution, resettlement of Japanese-Americans living within 200 miles of the West coast, support of the war effort (bonds, rationing, salvaging and recycling, defense organization and defense drills), post-war recovery and the building of a new business, when Leland was terminated at 62 years old with no retirement as well as his capability to bring out all aspect of important issues and patiently work plans that had overwhelming support.

“Through the publication of this book, I would like readers to have a better understanding of the rural America’s impact of the Great Depression and World War II, how the government started projects in response to the depression that should have been done by private companies and what brought us out of the Great Depression was World War II,” Bolt says. “In business or government, the leader must focus on identifying the business he should be in, and then have understanding of sources of income and control of expenditures. Never do all things the same way in the succeeding year. There's got to be some things that can improve!”
