The Untangled Truth AbouT Loving Your Natural Hair and Beauty

NBC recently tapped Michele Tapp Roseman's Hairlooms: The Untangled Truth AbouT Loving Your Natural Hair and Beauty for the NBCBLK Fall Reading Guide 2017. Hairlooms ranks among NBCBLK's reading recommendations from Pulitzer Prize winner Toni Morrison and Hollywood Actress, "Black-ish" star Jenifer Lewis. Heralded by Huffington Post as a, "beauty movement," Hairlooms chronicles Michele's journey to self-acceptance and includes her never-heard-before, exclusive interviews with the late Dr. Maya Angelou; Hollywood actresses Nicole Ari Parker and Kim Coles; and more than 25 equally esteemed contributors hailing from Alabama to Australia.

A recent Dove Global Beauty and Confidence Report which interviewed 10,500 females across 13 countries discovered that women's body confidence is spiraling downward. More specifically, the study revealed that women (69%) and girls (65%) cite increasing pressures from advertising and media to reach an unrealistic standard of beauty as a key force in driving appearance anxiety.

With these stark realities as a backdrop, Michele Tapp Roseman wrote Hairlooms: The Untangled Truth AbouT Loving Your Natural Hair and Beauty to address this issue and offer hope. Hairlooms chronicles Michele's self-acceptance journey and includes her never-heard-before, exclusive interviews with the late Dr. Maya Angelou; Hollywood actresses Nicole Ari Parker and Kim Coles; and more than 25 equally esteemed contributors hailing from Alabama to Australia. Heralded by Huffington Post as a, "beauty movement," the book is divided into easily digestible chapters that are complemented by contributor stories; reflection question and answer sections; and a creative coloring page.

After reading Hairlooms, readers will be empowered to:
· Identify issues that breed self-hatred
· Course-correct unhealthy self-perceptions
· Embrace their unique beauty
