While working in Zambales, Philippines, author Juanita Sproston saw something magical. In her new book, "How I Met an Enchanted Mermaid: A True Story" (published by AuthorHouse), Sproston shares the story of her encounter with what she believes to be a real mermaid.

Sproston wrote her book in an effort to show readers that mermaids are not myths; she claims they are real creatures, possessing shape-shifting powers and living in enchanted, underwater worlds.

After her friend, James, began acting strangely and said he found a mermaid, Sproston realized the mermaid had "strange powers and suspicious intentions," she recalls. Sproston says her story shows readers how God triumphs over all living creatures - even magical creatures with unclear motives.

An excerpt from "How I Met An Enchanted Mermaid":

"James paused, turned to Juanita with a look of disbelief on his face, and declared, 'The enchanted lady told me that the big problem is you, Nita.' ... The reason she could not come inside the room is because, out of all the people here, you are the only one who believes in God so much. You have a strong faith in God. Too strong! Your faith in God overpowers her.'"
