John Magyar of Universal Aquatics Featured in Industry Publication,... John Magyar, Owner of Universal Aquatics, was recently featured in Pond Trade Magazine for his article detailing the construction of an impressive 95-foot pondless waterfall he completed alongside his 13-year-old son, Elijah Magyar.

“I am thrilled that Pond Trade Magazine published my article. It’s an in-depth account of a personal project I was proud to accomplish with my son. It was an unforgettable experience creating a water feature for my own backyard with my son. Our hard work definitely paid off!” said Magyar.

Magyar’s article describes how what started out as a 25-foot pondless waterfall feature in the backyard of his new home in Lawrenceville, GA quickly turned into a project nearly four times the size of the initial scope.

“Fifty-three tons of Tennessee boulders and gravel were used for the project, with the largest at 2,900 pounds. I was like a kid in a candy store,” he said.

Multiple pumps were chosen to operate the waterfall. Specifically, one 4,000 to 8,000 AquaSurge Pump, two 5,000 AquaSurge Pumps and 40 Aquablox for the reservoir system.

“We used these particular pumps because we wanted to have energy-efficient, yet powerful results. This way, we could have the flexibility to adjust the overall flow, look and feel of the feature as needed based on the season. In the winter months, the 4-to-8 pump was operating the entire system. Multiple pumps were also chosen to assist in blocking out some nearby road noise,” said Magyar.

The final feature is 95-feet long and is accompanied by a 7-foot-long, solid-stone bridge accessible from a 30-foot-long moss pathway, which John and Elijah gathered locally by hand.

The waterfall system itself took three weeks to complete. The finishing touches such as moss, plants and spotlights for surrounding trees took an additional two weeks.
