An epic quest for immortality begins in author James Devine's new fantasy novel, "The Forgotten God" (published by Balboa Press AU).

Every 200 years, the evil god Dagos attempts to escape from his entrapment behind a door in Tartarus that only humans can open. This time, Dagos selects the hapless Neville, a 29-year-old single man who works at Kentucky Fried Chicken, to be his champion and win immortality if he can release Dagos from the doorway's confines.

Neville, a descendant of great warriors, is enticed by such a lofty prize. To free Dagos, he must find the key to unlock the door and recover three pieces of a mighty sword. The sword pieces are guarded by fearsome beasts on islands scattered all over the world. Will Neville be up to the task?

Devine weaves elements of Greek and Roman mythology into his narrative, creating a unique universe of formidable gods and exceptional mortals. He hopes to leave readers both entertained and hungry for more.

An excerpt from "The Forgotten God":

"For a few moments there was silence. A loud scream then pierced the air, as all eleven remaining spiders charged at Neville with rage for killing their brother. Neville madly swung his sword at the oncoming spiders, as numerous heads were cut off and fell to the ground."
