James A. Kizer is 'Keeping Up with the Egyptians'

James A. Kizer thinks "that it is easy to see that building the Egyptian pyramids using a ramp would have been impractical and too labor intensive to make sense. And it is doubtful to think they were built by aliens or giant people, big cranes or flying machines." But how were the pyramids built? Kizer answers this question in "Keeping Up with the Egyptians: Building Pyramids" (published by Xlibris).

After years of pondering and running one model after another through his mind, Kizer has come up with a theory that he believes does make sense as it seems to answer all unreasonable questions about how the pyramid was built. The book provides an alternative means in building the Egyptian pyramids using common materials, simple physics and mechanical means. His plan uses 0.1 percent the energy needed to drag a stone up a ramp and to set a stone on top of the pyramid every four to five minutes, putting the stone cutters to their limit.

The book was written using simple terms and it is relatively easy to understand. Readers will be intrigued to find out that by taking a few simple things, applying it with a good plan and repeating it over and over, building a giant structure the size of a pyramid is really possible.

"I didn't wake up one morning and say I know how the pyramids were built," Kizer points out. "It took years of working on it to make it look so simple and still fit into the equation. I was merely a construction detective following the clues and looking for reasonable answers."

At the age of 20, he received an apprenticeship into the Boilermakers, where he got to work welding and rigging.
