New author and fourth-generation rancher J. H. Lee shares adventures adapted from her life in her new western novel, "Cowgirl Courage" (published by WestBow Press).

Growing up on Silver Valley Ranch, 12-year-old protagonist Brooke makes horseback riding through the rugged hills of the Silverton River a part of her everyday life. When an accident causes the death of her beloved horse, Brooke struggles to regain confidence in her riding ability. A new horse brings the opportunity for a new partnership of trust, but the horse's mysterious disappearance and trouble threatening her family's ranch immobilizes Brooke with fear.

"Fear of the unknown and fear of the past can grip us so tightly that at times, it seems impossible to act," Lee acknowledges. "It is only in learning to act with courage in the face of fear that fear's stranglehold can be broken."

"Cowgirl Courage" affords readers the chance to participate in the real-life fears, struggles and adventures that occur on a working ranch, as Brooke does her best to regain the courageous cowgirl spirit she once knew.
