Elizabeth O'Neill Launches New Marketing Campaign for Children's Book Elizabeth O'Neill’s children’s book, “Alfred Visits South Dakota” (published by Trafford Publishing in June 2005) one of three books in the Alfred series, kicks off a new marketing campaign for 2018. Alfred is a sneaker-wearing elephant, and his best friend, Mr. Monocle, always wears a hat with his trusty monocle. Together, these two friends set out to explore the United States, visiting its many landmarks and walking a mile in the shoes of another culture.
In this adventure, Alfred and Mr. Monocle find themselves in South Dakota following the trail of Lewis and Clark. The two trek through the Badlands and cross the vast plains where the buffalo graze. When the two meet several Native Americans, they learn about Native American cultures and traditions.

Filled with watercolor illustrations, “Alfred Visits South Dakota” sends readers off on an adventure through South Dakota. With her book, O'Neill hopes to both educate and entertain her young readers.
An excerpt from “Alfred Visits South Dakota”:
“Meet Alfred and his friend Mr. Monocle. They have come to visit the United States of America. They are both from the continent of Africa. For two years (1803-1805) Lewis and Clark went to discover the Northwest Territory. Now Alfred and Mr. Monocle are following in the footsteps of these explorers.”“
