Educate and Empower Kids Releases New books, to Combat Abusive Themes in Fifty Shades of Grey

By: Feb. 12, 2015

In an effort to combat the deleterious effects of Fifty Shades of Grey and other violent, misogynistic media, Educate and Empower Kids (EEK) announced this morning the release of three new books. Entitled 30 Days of Sex Talks, Empowering Your Child with Knowledge of Sexual Intimacy, they are aimed at helping parents conduct discussions regarding sexual health and intimacy with their children. They are available for three age groups (3-7, 8-11, 12+) and provide simple topic starters and diverse discussion questions for parents and guardians to start and layer difficult subject matter with their children.

The books are the first released by the nonprofit organization and focus on more than just the mechanical aspects of sexual relations. Topics ranging from healthy relationships, emotional intimacy, body image, media literacy, sexual identification, pornography, and consent, to protecting from predators fill the books.

"With cell phones and tablets at the fingertips of young children, we can no longer wait for them to ask us about sex. We must begin those conversations and be the first, best source of information for our children," said Dina Alexander, Board President of EEK. "If you aren't talking to your kids about sex, someone else is. And those other sources could be friends, but they could also be predators or the porn industry."

EEK was founded in early 2014 and has seen intense growth in the sexual health and pro-intimacy forums. With materials available on their website, they cover a wide range of topics including protecting, preparing, confronting and repairing children as they are exposed to over-sexualized media.

Headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Educate and Empower kids aims to encourage youth to develop a healthy sexuality through education, empowerment, communication and love. For more information visit www.educateempowerkids.org. Or see the books on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1Ai4Mw6
