Reading has been Dana L. Brown's favorite past-time since she read her first Trixie Belden Mystery and fell in love with its imaginary characters that made her feel part of their world. One day, while on a bicycle ride with her husband, the idea for a novel developed in her mind, and from there, Brown was determined to write it. The result of which is her book titled "Lottie Loser: A Contemporary Romance Novel" (published by Archway Publishing), a story about a young bank executive who is propelled down a confusing path when her first love walks back into her life after 12 years.

It has been 12 years since Lottie Luce ran away to Indiana, three weeks before her classes were to begin at Indiana University, to avoid a confrontation with her best friend, and secret love, Nick Greyson. On the night she believed he was going to tell her that he wanted her for more than a friend, Lottie caught Nick in a compromising position with her long-time nemesis, Ashley Marshall, and the hurt and humiliation were more than she could bear. Now a product of personal reinvention, Charlotte Luce is the youngest and first female market president of Olde Florida Bank, and her life is nearly perfect. That is until Nick comes home to Anna Maria Island, hoping to save his father from financial ruin, and Charlotte's carefully created world stands still.

"This novel has a little bit of everything!," Brown points out. "Love, drama, relationship issues, and intrigue, with the underlying sentiment that if you face your problems head-on and not run away from them, they won't have any hold on you. Forgiveness is empowering and that's something everyone can learn from."

Brown believes that the vacillating between the present, and Lottie's memories of her childhood, gives this romance novel a different twist. She added that readers will get to know the characters, as well as their story from childhood to adult, which truly will make them understand every nuisance of the book.
